Our fascination with the newest royal couple will not die any time soon. Now we have news of their first official international trip as husband and wife!
Reports have come out that the new Duke and Duchess of Sussex are planning to visit New Zealand, Australia, Fiji and Tonga sometime in October. After a short two-day stay in Dublin, Ireland to welcome the summer, Harry and Meghan will then make the trip Down Under in time to be present at the Invictus Games in Sydney. The Duke supports the games designed for injured servicemen and servicewomen.
Speculation of the trip happening was further fueled when New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern recently said that any member of the royal family visiting the islands would be “warmly welcomed”. Although news of this trip has long been broken, Ardern’s words add to the possibility of this trip pushing through. “We have a long-standing invitation to any member of the royal family to visit New Zealand,” the leader exclaimed, “There are always benefits to New Zealand when we have a member of the royal family visit.”
Here’s hoping that Meghan can tour Harry around the country. The former Suits star actually went on a camper van trip to the Southern parts and detailed it all in her now-defunct lifestyle blog, The Tig. The two-week vacation warmed up with a food adventure in Queenstown. Meghan and her buddy then drove their way northwards to scenic spots such as Lake Wanaka and the Franz Josef Glacier. To top it all off, they jetted from Christchurch to Auckland for a ferry ride to the wine island, Waiheke.
Happy trails and Godspeed to the royal couple!
