Organising your kid’s birthday party can be tricky enough without having to worry about making goodie bags and party favours.
Get your karting buddies ready and your red and green overalls dry-cleaned: Mario Kart racing will be revving up soon in Sydney and Melbourne this September!
Karting is already a trailblazing good time on its own. But imagine pulling up next to actual-sized sedans in a pint-sized racing machine. With a mustache, white gloves, and a very weird plumber’s hat. Now, stop imagining, and instead watch this video to see how real Mario Karting should be, courtesy of our Pacific neighbors, the Anime Folk:
The outfit bringing in this sacred art of driving is appropriately called Mushroom Racing. There are very few details on the page (other than the essentials), but what we do know is that this is very, very real. We were quite intrigued by the “secret location” bit.
This version of the karting game is quite different. Instead of driving through the streets like in Tokyo, drivers will be able to race each other in events on different courses. Drivers can also collect stars to win special prizes. Your races could end up like a certain movie franchise, but we digress.
You can book your race tickets now for $100 AUD a pop. Each ticket includes a costume rental, a snack, transport to and from the “secret location”, 20 laps of pure, unadulterated madness and more. We are not sure sure yet what else awaits any venerable Nintendo racer. What we do know is that this is way better than your regular, D&D tabletop weekend.
May the racing gods be ever in your favour.
