‘Bloody Hell!’ And we don’t mean whatever the red-headed Weasley saw in that frame.
Hold on to your flying Firebolts and press your robes until they are pristine: a second Harry Potter-themed store has opened its magical doors to wizards, witches, and muggles in Melbourne! The company that brought Brisbane the first magic shop last year is also the genius behind this new enterprise.
Aptly called the Store of Requirement, the uprooted Diagon Alley boutique can be found in Collingwood and will contain a large collection of officially licensed memorabilia and collectibles. Purveyors will be able to find 9 to 13 inch wand replicas, chests of the entire book collection with DVD set, and essential texts such as Newt Scamander’s Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, among other mystical items. We could already hear the cheers of dedicated cosplayers from here!
What we would certainly do upon entering is to finally complete our set of robes (can’t even find a decent Ravenclaw scarf!). We will also get ourselves wands, of course from Ollivander’s. We understand that the wizened wand master may be indisposed (bless the man), so we’re hoping a unicorn hair or dragon’s heartstring core could be in the works. It could be a cinch to get these items too: from a price range of $5 to $450, there will definitely be something for anyone who’ll drop by.
Make sure to take a swig of butter beer from the in-house tap. But obviously, nothing beats the all-wonderful brew of Hogsmeade! We can’t wait until the store is open and fully operational- we’re already preparing our apparation spells so we could be first thing in the opening line!
