Enjoy the wonder of the many inventions created by the country’s esteemed makers at this year’s Manila Mini Maker Faire (MMMF), happening on June 23-24, 2018 at the The Mind Museum! Entrance to the faire is free to the public.
The Manila Mini Maker Faire was designed to gather the most fascinating and curious minds in the country. Nicknamed the “Greatest Show (and Tell) on Earth”, the festival is a great mix of inventiveness, creativity, and celebration for the Maker movement. Kids will be able to meet over 70 Makers from all over the country to see their best stuff.
From engineers, artists, to computer geniuses, kids will be able to meet and see some of the most inventive people today. Whether the inventions are to serve as hobbies, or as experiments, makers will get to share a bit of themselves to friends and guests.
Some of the Makers you will get to see include:
Check out the amazing powers of paper in motion! Learn about the workings of movable books and the art and science of paper engineering. You will also make your own pop-up artwork too!
A group of toy designers, they love to play and create their own toys from scratch! Some of the toys they make have animatronics, can transform, and have full posability. Sounds a lot like Transformers to us!
Musiko Imbento is a community platform in the Philippines for craftsmen, hobbyists and instrument builders who all share a love for music. They create their own musical instruments using re-purposed materials.
A student-run organization from the country’s state university, the UP Space is a group of young, idealistic makers driven by their passion and love for inventing. Come see the group’s handmade chess set, automatic cardboard rifles, and their own version of the Marvel hero Thor’s weapon, the Mjolnir!
Live a sustainable life while staying groovy in this solar-powered van! This Tiny Sustainable Mobile House is powered by roof-mounted solar panels. The power collected from sunlight can power the van’s lights, fans, and even the television set! You can also learn more about DIY solar lamps and learn how to create your own solar lights.
This is not really an invention class or display, but it is related to art! Come and join improv group Vitamin C’s teaser course on improvisational theatre. The members will teach you the basics, which you can apply in your personal and professional development. Theatre experience is not required, but a boatload of humour and laughs are a must!
Gathering the best and brightest makers, the Manila Maker Faire promises to be an awesome time for all families. This event will take place in The Mind Museum on June 23-24, 2018 (Saturday and Sunday). Come and be amazed by the various DIY Filipino inventions, arts, crafts, and classes!
