An afternoon of Family Volunteering suitable for all ages About this Event Is giving back a priority for your family? Are you looking to start a meaningful family tradition? Why not join us for a Family Volunteering Day! Get the whole family involved – children, teenagers, even grandparents! Come along to the Halswell Quarry Park (Kennedy’s Bush Road, Halswell) on Saturday 29 February 2020 from 1pm to 3pm. We’ll be mulching and weeding around plants within this beautiful recreational reserve. All tools and equipment will be provided, but please bring your own water bottle and gardening gloves. Drinking fountains and toilet facilities are available, and there is plenty of parking onsite. Please note: parents will be held responsible for their children at all times. It is a popular annual event for all children and families that celebrates the message that children should be treasured. Many countries in the world celebrate Children’s Day and New Zealand is one of them. In New Zealand Children’s Day is always on the first Sunday of March each year. On this day, New Zealand comes alive with activities and events designed to bring families together and show how important children are in our community. Come down with your picnic lunch and enjoy all the free children’s activities. This year, the event includes the performing arts, crafts, demonstrations, sports, activities and games. Getting there is easy, just catch the orange line bus to avoid all the hassle of traffic. If you need to bring a car the car park can be accessed from Mundys road.
unday 1st March is Te Rā o Ngā Tamariki (NZ Children’s Day). Home & Family and Action Indoor Sports have teamed up to put on a community day for little ones and their families. While football teams sweat it out on the indoor football pitches, bring the kids along to Inflatable World, raffles, face painting and a BBQ. The ASB Christchurch Marathon on Sunday, 31 May 2020 consists of a Full Marathon, Half Marathon, 10km and Kids 3km, 2km and 1km MaraFun. It is run each year on Queen’s Birthday Weekend. The marathon, half marathon and 10K events can be run, walked or raced in a wheelchair. The race returned to the Christchurch Town Hall in 2019, after its post-earthquake rebuild.
