    The Handmade Show

    The Handmade Show is a friendly, community-minded makers market in the south-eastern suburb of Glen Huntly, where crafters and artisans showcase and sell their wares. All products are handcrafted by talented local artisans and crafters. 30-35 stallholders showcase their handmade jewellery, handknits, children’s toys and clothing, candles, soaps, stationery, homewares, jams and preserves, cookies and cakes. Live music adds to the ambience as you wander around the stalls. Kids can do free craft activities while you shop or have their face painted. Delicious refreshments including light meals, sweet treats and, of course, coffee and tea are available from Café Handmade (which raises money for local soup kitchen Tony’s Café). Best of all, it’s indoors, so the market is on whatever the weather! Come along to relax, browse, shop and feel welcome.

    Camp United Nations for Girls Melbourne 2018

    Camp United Nations for Girls Melbourne 2018 is a political leadership program that introduces girls ages 9 to 15 to international politics and the work of the United Nations. The program begins with a lesson on the history of the United Nations and its purpose. This is followed by an explanation of the structure, leadership and the rules of procedure of the United Nations starting with the General Assembly and subsidiary organs. Participants learn about the specific work undertaken by the United Nations’ boards, commissions, committees, councils and panels and working groups. Prior to convening the General Assembly, each participant will be assigned a country and guided through researching her country. When the General Assembly convenes delegates will give speeches, negotiate with other delegates, caucus and propose resolutions along with amendments before finally voting. All activities will be guided by a camp counselor in small working groups of delegates. Girl Scouts participating in Camp United Nations for Girls will earn a Girl Scouts Global Action Award.

    Inclusive Golf Clinic Empower Golf is hosting a Come and Try Golf clinic for people living with a disability. Our Come and Try Golf clinics are the ideal way to introduce new people to golf for the first time, or to reintroduce former players to the game they love after accident or illness. Players of all abilities have to opportunity to try golf, the amazing ParaGolfer (which is available for future hire at Sandhurst) and other adaptive equipment. Clinics run for 3 hours, but that includes plenty of time to relax and chat with the other players. One of Australia’s most experienced disability golf coaches, Disability Specialist PGA Professional Christian Hamilton, will be on hand to ensure that every player gets the most out of the afternoon. And because we understand that you already come from community of support, your friends and family are always welcome.

    Ballet Play (Sept. 02)

    What Is Ballet Play? The program is designed to introduce the basics of classical ballet and inspire the love of dance through imagination and creative movement to 3 – 5 year olds. Children will be guided through play based movement activities that will encourage the development of musicality, spatial awareness, and basic motor skills. Students will also become familiar with class etiquette, the structure of a classical ballet class and be provided with an overall strong foundation for future study in dance technique.
