All your favourite Play School characters are sailing in to the Maritime Museum this December for an exhibition that brings all your childhood memories alive! Take a cardboard box, a paper hat, a whole lot of imagination, and you can be sailing the high seas, tackling mythical sea creatures as an explorer, a pirate or the captain of your own ship. This is the kind of creative learning and fun that the iconic Australian TV show Play School has offered for more than fifty years. To celebrate, a landmark exhibition marking the program’s milestone 50th birthday is coming to South Australia and will be exclusively at the Maritime Museum in Port Adelaide. This exhibition is free with general museum admission. Happy Birthday Playschool: Celebrating 50 Years is a travelling exhibition from the National Maritime of Australia developed in collaboration with the ABC.

Adelaide’s Duke of Brunswick Hotel is hosting a family-friendly evening of eating and drinking inspired by Italy. The Gluten Free Family Festa is presented by South Australia’s San Remo and will feature plenty of delicious gluten-free pasta paired with delicious, fresh produce from across the state. Gilbert Street’s Duke of Brunswick is already a popular venue for gluten-free dining, and this inaugural event will be a celebration of all things fabulously fresh. Aperitivo will kick off the event, followed by entrée, mains and dessert. San Remo’s gluten-free range includes pasta made from pulses such as chickpeas and lentils, along with brown rice and buckwheat variants. The company was founded in Adelaide back in 1936 and helped introduce Australia to the joys of pasta. Today the company still remains a 100% family owned and operated business and who is proud to have been part of Australian families for over 80 years.
Nutella-Palooza is back for 2020 and this time with FREE entry. Prepare to lick your spoons clean because that smooth, chocolately, hazelnutty goodness is coming to Adelaide by the truck loads…literally. Last year’s Nutella-Palooza showcased over 50 food trucks and vendors and served up 1,000 variations of Nutella themed treats. The venue is once again Morphettville Racecourse. Nickelodeon, TEG Life Like Touring and VStar Entertainment Group today announced Paw Patrol Live! “Race to the Rescue” is returning to Adelaide in May 2020 following its sold-out inaugural tour of Australia in 2017. PAW Patrol Live! “Race to the Rescue” will commence its 2020 tour in Newcastle on April 26, before making its way to Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide and concluding in Sydney on May 30. Based on the hit animated TV series on Nick Jr. produced by Spin Master, PAW Patrol Live! “Race to the Rescue” brings everybody’s favourite pups back to the stage for an action-packed, high-energy, musical adventure where they come to the rescue when Mayor Goodway goes missing during the day of the Great Adventure Bay Race. PAW Patrol Live! “Race to the Rescue” shows that “no job is too big, no pup is too small”, and shares lessons for all ages about citizenship, social skills and problem-solving as the characters each use their unique skills and teamwork. The show engages audiences with Bunraku puppetry, an innovative costuming approach that brings the PAW Patrol characters to life on stage along with their vehicles and packs. The show runs for 1 hour 20 minutes (including two acts and interval) and features up-tempo music and a clever script that is a good introduction to live theatre for children. Classic theatrical scenery along with a high-tech LED video wall visually transports audiences to Adventure Bay and other TV Series locations. There will be limited performances per city, on family-friendly Saturdays.
A Magical Journey into Disney’s Smash Hits to tour Australia Winter 2020. Adelaide will experience this magical show on June 19-21 at the Entertainment Centre. Pre-sale Tickets are on-Sale to Feld Priority Customers on Wednesday 6 November 2019 at 9am (local time). General Admission tickets will be released in 2020. Join Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse as they take audiences on an expedition across raging seas and snow-covered mountains in this action-packed extravaganza featuring Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, Moana, Frozen, Tangled, and Cinderella. Two firsts for this fabulous show include Miguel from Disney and Pixar’s Coco plus, all the way from Hundred Acre Wood, special guests Winnie the Pooh and Tigger will get the families out of their seats and onto their feet to learn a special dance when Disney On Ice presents Dare to Dream tours throughout Australia in Winter 2020.
The Royal Adelaide Show is held in the first week of September each year.
