Forget sitting still and staying quiet – Briefs wants its audience to sing, dance, clap and cheer when it brings Brat Kids Carnival to Queensland Performing Art Centre’s (QPAC’sPlayhouse from 14-15 September.

The colourful carnival features a cheeky collection of jaw-dropping acrobats, eye-popping aerialists, side-splitting clowns and foot-stomping music.

The high-energy, all-ages show from one of Australia’s most irreverent and evocative creative collection of performers is an all-out brat-attack just for kids.

Brat Kids Carnival revels in making mischief: from twirling hula hoops at top speed, to sending acrobats up to alarming heights, to letting cheeky clowns wreak mayhem on stage.

Brisbane Festival Artistic Director David Berthold said Brat Kids Carnival was suitable for children of all ages – and even their parents!

Brat Kids Carnival harnesses the pure joy and energy of children and the result is an energetic, frenetic show filled with mischief and mayhem,” Mr Berthold said.

“Briefs is renowned for its bold style and audacious performances and while Brat Kids Carnival comes with a family-friendly rating, it retains unmistakeable elements of the company’s swashbuckling self-assuredness.

Noisy, fun and silly, the afternoon show encourages audience members from tots to teens to get excited about expressing themselves, whether that’s jumping on stage for a boogie to a pumping soundtrack or scratching their heads at an array of baffling party tricks.

QPAC Chief Executive John Kotzas said he was excited to present Briefs’ wildly fun new show for children.

“At QPAC we are all about creating memorable arts experience for all ages, and I cannot wait to hear kids’ laughter fill the Playhouse as the mischief makers of Briefs, an international sensation, perform in front of a home crowd,” Mr Kotzas said.

Brat Kids Carnival plays QPAC’s Playhouse from 14-15 September.
